Should the Palestinians Recognize a Jewish State?
Sep 09, 2010
In 1947 the United Nations established a "Jewish Homeland," not a Jewish STATE. That point was debated thoroughly before passing the resolution on Nov. 30, 1947.
So why should the Palestinian Authority recognize a Jewish State? There is no UN mandate for this, and the Israelis are demanding more than they were given in 1947. Jews were given the right to move to Palestine and live with the Palestinians that owned land within the territory granted to the Jews as a "homeland." But once the Jews arrived, they began preparing to take over as if it were a Jewish State.
So does the Israeli government have the right to demand that the Palestinians recognize Israel as a Jewish State? Not while they continue to assert their rights by citing the resolution in 1947.
