On Saturday the Iraqi MP's reached a power-sharing deal that appeared to satisfy most of them. Then Allawi said, "no way, the deal is dead. It was all a big misunderstanding." Then it was back on track.

They lurch along, two steps forward, then one step backward, Maliki has a month to get the job done, but in the end it looks like they will form the new government this week.

If it ever gets this rancorous in Washington D.C., we'll know that . . . oh, wait. . . uh . . . Never mind.
