Howard was a successful businessman until he lost his job in the economic collapse a few years ago. Then God unexpectedly intervened in his life. Without asking permission! I am reminded of Paul’s statement in Romans 2:4, “it is the goodness of God that leads you to repentance.”

That, of course, is a New Covenant concept, where God vows to intervene in our lives in order to make us His people (Deut. 29:10-15).
