Kennedy was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1988 by Ronald Reagan. I heard last month that he was going to retire. His letter of resignation is dated today, June 27, 2018. It will be effective on July 31.

The Democrats will do their best to stall the appointment of his replacement until after the elections this November, in hopes that they will have more votes against any of Trump’s nominations. They cannot afford to have another conservative on the Supreme Court.
