Regarding random links and/or advertisements on the site.

Q. There are advertisements and/or random double underlined links that, if I click on them, take me to a random site that doesn't seem safe. Why are these on the site?

A. We are not putting these on the site. We do NOT have any 3rd party advertisements on GKM! Usually, these links appear double underlined, and sometimes different color than the rest of the links. These are an indication that your browser has possibly been hijacked, and that program is causing random words on the site to be linked to random sites. This is usually a form of adware, and may or may not be harmful. There are plenty of resources on the web that can tell you how to get rid of the various types of browser hijackers, but there are standard steps that you can take by default.

  • Install a Malware removal program. One of the most popular ones that works very well is MalwareBytes Anti Malware (MBAM). They have a free version that you can install. It should detect and remove any malware on your computer.
  • Check your browser add-ons. Some browser hijackers will install an add-on in your browser. If you see one related to what you're experiencing, or one that you don't recognize, go ahead and remove it. Be sure that it's not something you need.

Again, most online resources can help you remove the specific browser hijacker you're experiencing; just do a search and see if anyone else is experiencing the same issues.

We just wanted to reassure everyone that we are not adding these links in. We are not attempting to advertise at random points on the site. If you are experiencing this, or something similar, go ahead and search it out. If you can't find out what's going on, you can send us a ticket at http://gkmsupport.freshdesk.com, and we'll try to help as best we can.

Have a great day, and God Bless!
